ATPROJECT_CIRCUITS_EDITOR |
Open the Project Circuits Editor dialog |
Ribbon: FireCAD > Edit > Project Circuits Editor
Prerequisites
- A FireCAD project must be open
- The active drawing must be part of the project
Overview
Each circuit in your project gets a default name from its panel and card position (for example, N1, L1, or AUX1). The Project Circuits Editor lets you override that name with anything you want — useful when a panel uses non-standard circuit nomenclature, when a building's documentation refers to circuits by zone or area instead of card output, or when you simply want shorter / clearer labels on the drawing.
The override is per-circuit, not project-wide, and it propagates to device labels, wirepath labels, and reports automatically.
Steps
-
Open the Project Circuits Editor dialog. There are two ways:
-
Click the Project Circuits Editor button on the Circuits palette.
-
Or type
ATPROJECT_CIRCUITS_EDITORin the AutoCAD command line.
-
-
Find the circuit you want to rename. The grid lists every circuit in the project, grouped by panel and card. Use the column filters at the top of each column (Panel, Card, Origin Part Number, etc.) to narrow the list if you have a lot of circuits.
-
Click the Circuit Name cell for the circuit you want to override. The cell becomes editable.
-
Type the new name and press Enter (or click another cell). The override is staged but not yet applied to the drawing.
-
Repeat steps 3–4 for any other circuits you want to rename.
-
Click OK to apply your changes. The dialog closes and FireCAD updates:
- Device labels on the active drawing
- Wirepath labels on the active drawing
- Circuit names in any open reports
Tips
- The Wirepath Label column next to Circuit Name lets you override the label that prints on wire paths separately from the circuit name itself. Use that when you want one display string on devices and a different one on the wire run.
- Click Cancel instead of OK to discard all the overrides you made in the current session.
- Overrides are saved in the project file. They survive Update Project, but if you delete the panel/card the circuit lives on, the override is lost along with the circuit.
- If you want to revert a circuit to its default name, clear the cell (delete the text) and click OK. FireCAD will regenerate the default name from the panel and card position.
