ATMANAGE_LOCKED_CIRCUIT_ADDRESSES |
Open the Locked Address Editor for the active circuit |
Prerequisites
- A FireCAD project must be open
- A circuit must be selected (active)
Overview
The Locked Address Editor lets you reserve specific device addresses on a circuit. Locked addresses are excluded from automatic address sequencing, ensuring that specific address numbers remain assigned to particular devices even when the circuit is modified.
Layout
A simple dialog with:
- A data grid showing locked addresses for the current circuit
- Action buttons along the bottom
Data Grid
| Column | Editable | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Locked Address | Yes | The reserved address number (e.g., 1, 2, 5) |
| Part No | No | Part number of the device at this address (informational) |
| Circuit Type | Yes | Connection type this address applies to (SLC, NAC, etc.) |
Addresses are sorted by number, then by type.
Buttons
| Button | Action |
|---|---|
| Add | Create a new locked address row with the next available address |
| Delete Selected | Remove selected locked address rows (with confirmation) |
| Apply | Validate and save changes, then recompute all addresses |
| Cancel | Discard changes and close |
Steps
- Select a circuit in the Project Circuits Palette or use
ATMANAGE_LOCKED_CIRCUIT_ADDRESSES - The editor opens showing existing locked addresses for the circuit
- Click Add to reserve a new address
- Set the Locked Address number and select a Circuit Type
- Click Apply to save
Validation
The editor prevents saving if:
- Duplicate address and circuit type combinations exist on the same circuit
- An error message guides you to fix duplicates before saving
What Happens on Apply
- Changes are saved to the database
- The address sequencing algorithm runs, respecting all locked addresses
- Device labels update to reflect the new address assignments
Tips
- Use locked addresses to ensure critical devices (like annunciators or specific detectors) keep their assigned addresses
- The Circuit Type dropdown is required — each locked address must be associated with a specific type
- After saving, all addresses on the circuit are recomputed around the locked positions
