Setting Address Overrides

Command

Command Description
ATSET_OVERRIDE_ADDRESS Set a manual address override on selected devices

Ribbon: FireCAD > Circuits > Override Device Address

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open

Overview

The ATSET_OVERRIDE_ADDRESS command sets a manual address override on selected devices. Unlike locked addresses (which preserve the automatically calculated address), an override replaces the address entirely with a user-specified value.

Steps

  1. Type ATSET_OVERRIDE_ADDRESS in the AutoCAD command line
  2. Select the device(s) to override
  3. Enter the override address value
  4. Device labels update to show the overridden address

Address Override vs. Locked Address

Feature Locked Address Address Override
Source Preserves the auto-calculated address Replaces with a custom value
Scope Circuit-level (lock all at once) Device-level (per device)
Resequencing Keeps the address it had when locked Always shows the override value
Use case Freeze current addressing Assign a specific non-standard address

Tips

  • Overrides take precedence over both automatic addressing and locked addresses
  • Use overrides sparingly — they bypass the automatic addressing system
  • To remove an override, use ATREMOVE_OVERRIDE_ADDRESS
