Format Wirepath Labels Dialog

Command

Command Description
ATFORMAT_WIREPATH_LABELS Configure wirepath label format and display options

Ribbon: FireCAD > Attributes > Format Wirepath Labels

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open

Overview

The Format Wirepath Labels dialog controls how circuit wirepath labels appear on drawing segments. You can customize the label format using template tokens, adjust text height, and configure display options like segment IDs and line type patterns.

Layout

A single-tab dialog with controls arranged in rows:

Fields

Field Type Description
Wirepath Label Format Text Template string using tokens to define label content
Wirepath Label Text Height Numeric spinner Text size in drawing units
Hide Wirepath Label Text Numeric spinner Hide labels on segments shorter than this length
Mask Wirepath Label Text Checkbox Obscure label text for security or clarity
Show Segment ID In Wirepath Labels Checkbox Display segment conduit ID instead of wirefill
Show Circuit Quantity In Wirepath Labels Checkbox Display device count on the circuit
Generate Line Types For Wirefill Checkbox Use AutoCAD line type patterns instead of text labels
Line Type Text Spacing Numeric spinner Distance between line type pattern repetitions

Format Tokens

Use these tokens in the Wirepath Label Format field to build custom labels:

Token Description
[LBL] Circuit label (wirepath identifier)
[PNL] Panel name
[CKT] Circuit number
[AWG] Wire gauge
[COND] Conductor count

Examples

Format String Sample Output
[LBL] L1-SLC
[LBL]:[AWG] L1-SLC:14/2
[PNL] [CKT] [AWG] FA-1 01 14/2

Buttons

Button Action
Apply Save settings and regenerate all wirepath labels in the project
Cancel Close without changes

Steps

  1. Type ATFORMAT_WIREPATH_LABELS in the AutoCAD command line
  2. Configure the format template and display options
  3. Click Apply
  4. A progress dialog appears while labels are regenerated across all circuits

Important Notes

  • Apply updates ALL circuits — wirepath label format changes apply to every circuit in the project, not just the active drawing
  • A progress dialog shows during label regeneration, which may take a moment on large projects
  • Settings are saved to your project settings file and persist across sessions

Tips

  • Start with a simple format like [LBL] and add tokens as needed
  • Use the Hide Wirepath Label Text threshold to avoid cluttering short wire segments
  • Enable Generate Line Types For Wirefill for a visual alternative to text-based labels
  • The Mask Wirepath Label Text option is useful for preliminary or security-sensitive drawings
