Format Device Labels Dialog

Command Description
ATFORMAT_DEVICE_LABELS Configure which label components display on selected devices

Ribbon: FireCAD > Attributes > Format Device Labels

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open
  • One or more devices must be selected in the drawing

Overview

The Format Device Labels dialog controls which pieces of information appear on device labels in the drawing. You can show or hide individual label components like the panel name, address, candela rating, and more.

Layout

The dialog contains three groups of checkboxes organized in a tabbed panel:

Circuit Label Options

Control which circuit-related information appears on device labels:

Option Description
Show Device Name Display the device/panel name
Show Card Name Display the card or node name
Show Circuit Name Display the circuit identifier
Show Branch Number Display the branch number (if applicable)
Show Address Display the device address number
Show Sub-Address Display sub-addresses for multi-address devices
Show EOL Display end-of-line indicator

Device Setting Options

Control which device specification data appears:

Option Description
Show Candela Display luminous intensity rating (for visual notification devices)
Show Watts Display wattage consumption
Show Decibels Display decibel output (for speakers and audible devices)

Global Options

Application-wide label formatting settings:

Option Description
Show Properties On Single Line Compress multi-line properties onto a single line
Create Multiple Device Attributes Generate separate AutoCAD attributes for each property instead of a single concatenated attribute

Multiple Device Selection

When multiple devices are selected with different formatting:

  • Checked — All selected devices have this option enabled
  • Unchecked — All selected devices have this option disabled
  • Indeterminate (dash) — Mixed values across selected devices

Buttons

Apply Save formatting options and update device labels
Cancel Close without changes

Steps

  1. Select one or more devices in the drawing
  2. Type ATFORMAT_DEVICE_LABELS in the AutoCAD command line
  3. Check the label components you want to display
  4. Uncheck components you want to hide
  5. Click Apply to update the labels

Tips

  • Use this dialog to create clean drawings by hiding unnecessary label components
  • Settings apply only to the selected devices, not globally
  • After applying, device labels in the drawing update automatically
  • For wirepath label formatting, use ATFORMAT_WIREPATH_LABELS instead
