Validating the Active Drawing

Command

Command Description
ATVALIDATE Run comprehensive validation on the active drawing

Ribbon: FireCAD > Validation > Validate Devices

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open
  • A drawing must be open in AutoCAD

Overview

The ATVALIDATE command performs a comprehensive validation of the active drawing. This includes segment validation, device validation, property synchronization, and a full label refresh. Unlike the Design Assistant (which checks design rules), this command validates the underlying data integrity.

Steps

  1. Type ATVALIDATE in the AutoCAD command line
  2. FireCAD validates:
    • All segments in the drawing
    • All devices and their database records
    • Project property synchronization
  3. All device and wirepath labels refresh automatically

What Gets Validated

  • Entity database records match the drawing geometry
  • Segment data integrity
  • Project properties are synced to drawing custom properties
  • Orphaned records are identified

When to Use

  • After importing or restoring data
  • When devices or segments appear to have incorrect data
  • As a general health check on the drawing
  • Before generating reports to ensure data is consistent

Tips

  • ATVALIDATE focuses on data integrity; use ATDESIGN_ASSISTANT for design rule validation
  • After validation, labels are automatically refreshed
