Editing Master Block Definitions

Command

Command Description
ATEDIT_MASTER_BLOCK_DEFINITIONS Open the Master Block Definition Editor

Ribbon: FireCAD > Edit > Master Block Definitions

Prerequisites

  • FireCAD must be loaded and licensed
  • Does not require a project to be open

Overview

The ATEDIT_MASTER_BLOCK_DEFINITIONS command opens the Block Definition Editor for the master database. The master database contains the global library of device blocks, templates, and component definitions shared across all projects.

Steps

  1. Type ATEDIT_MASTER_BLOCK_DEFINITIONS in the AutoCAD command line
  2. The Block Definition Editor dialog opens (connected to the master database)
  3. Browse, edit, or manage master block definitions
  4. Close the dialog when finished

Important Notes

  • Changes to master block definitions affect all future projects that import from the master database
  • Existing projects are not automatically updated — use ATUPDATE_PROJECT to pull updated definitions into a project
  • This command does not require a project to be open, since it operates on the master database directly
