ATUPDATE_PROJECT |
Open the Project Parts Update dialog to add or modify templates and devices |
Ribbon: FireCAD > File > Update Project
Prerequisites
- A FireCAD project must be open
Overview
The ATUPDATE_PROJECT command opens the Project Parts Update dialog, which allows you to add, remove, or modify device definitions, circuit templates, cables, and limit types in your project database. This is how you bring in new parts from the master database after project creation.
Steps
- Type
ATUPDATE_PROJECTin the AutoCAD command line - The Project Parts Update dialog opens
- Browse and select the templates, devices, cables, or limit types you want to add or modify
- Make your changes and click OK (or equivalent accept button)
- FireCAD applies the changes:
- A progress dialog appears: "Applying Circuit and Device Type Templates..."
- Circuit and device type validation runs
- Device labels are updated on the active drawing
- Wirepath labels are updated on the active drawing
What the Dialog Shows
The Project Parts Update dialog provides access to:
- Device definitions from the master database
- Circuit templates that define circuit types, wire configurations, and current limits
- Cable types with conductor specifications
- Limit types for circuit validation
Content may be filtered based on your license features.
What Happens After Apply
When you accept changes, FireCAD performs a full refresh:
- Cache reload — All cached data is cleared and reloaded from the database to reflect your changes
- Circuit validation — Circuit and device type templates are validated for consistency
- Device label update — All device labels on the active drawing are regenerated
- Wirepath label update — All wirepath labels on the active drawing are regenerated
A progress dialog tracks these steps. This process ensures that any template or device changes are immediately reflected in your drawings.
Tips
- Use this command when you need devices or templates that weren't included during project creation
- After updating, check the Design Assistant (
ATDESIGN_ASSISTANT) to verify no validation issues were introduced - The full refresh after update may take a few seconds on large projects
