Resequencing Circuit Devices

Command

Command Description
ATRESEQUENCE_CIRCUIT Reorder devices on a circuit by selecting them in the desired order

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open
  • An active circuit must be selected in the Circuits palette
  • The active drawing must be part of the project
  • The circuit must not be locked

Overview

The ATRESEQUENCE_CIRCUIT command lets you redefine the order of devices on the active circuit. Device order determines addressing sequence, wire label numbering, and the order devices appear in reports.

Steps

  1. Select the circuit in the Circuits palette
  2. Type ATRESEQUENCE_CIRCUIT in the AutoCAD command line
  3. Connected devices on the circuit are highlighted in the drawing
  4. Click devices in the order you want them sequenced:
    • Click the first device (becomes sequence #1)
    • Click the second device (becomes sequence #2)
    • Continue until all devices are ordered
  5. Press Escape when finished
  6. Sequence numbers are updated and labels refresh

How It Works

  • Each device you click is assigned a new MasterSequence value in the order you select it
  • Device addresses, wire labels, and report ordering update to reflect the new sequence
  • The operation is recorded in the database immediately

Important Notes

  • Locked circuits cannot be resequenced — unlock the circuit first if needed
  • You don't need to click every device — unselected devices retain their relative positions
  • The circuit's origin device is not part of the sequence (it's always the starting point)

Tips

  • Use this after rearranging device positions in the drawing to match the physical layout order
  • Resequencing affects address assignment — verify addresses after reordering
  • For SLC (Signaling Line Circuit) type circuits, device order typically follows the physical wiring path
