Setting Active Circuit from Device

Command

Command Description
ATSET_ACTIVE_CIRCUIT_FROM_DEVICE Set the active circuit by selecting a device in the drawing

Ribbon: FireCAD > Circuits > Set Active Circuit From Device

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open
  • The active drawing must be part of the project

Overview

The ATSET_ACTIVE_CIRCUIT_FROM_DEVICE command lets you quickly set the active circuit by clicking on a device in the drawing. If the device originates a circuit, that circuit becomes active. If the device is connected to a circuit, that circuit becomes active.

This is a convenient alternative to navigating the Circuits palette to find and select a circuit.

Steps

  1. Type ATSET_ACTIVE_CIRCUIT_FROM_DEVICE in the AutoCAD command line
  2. You are prompted: "Select a panel or module to select circuit from:"
  3. Click on a device in the drawing
  4. The circuit associated with that device becomes the active circuit in the Circuits palette

How It Works

  • If the selected device originates a circuit (it's a panel or power supply), that circuit is activated
  • If the selected device is connected to a circuit (it's a field device), the circuit it's on is activated
  • The Circuits palette updates to highlight the newly active circuit

Tips

  • This is the fastest way to switch active circuits when you can see the device in the drawing
  • Useful when working with densely populated drawings where finding circuits in the palette is slower than clicking a device
  • If a device is on multiple circuits, the first matching circuit is selected
