Replacing Devices

Command

Command Description
ATREPLACE_DEVICES Replace selected block references with a project device

Ribbon: FireCAD > Devices > Replace Selection With Device

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open
  • Block references must be selected or available for selection

Overview

The ATREPLACE_DEVICES command replaces selected block references with a device from the current project. This is similar to ATREPLACE_BLOCKREFS but specifically handles device replacement, maintaining circuit connections and entity data where possible.

Like ATREPLACE_BLOCKREFS, this command supports ALIGNMENT, ROTATION, and SCALE keyword options for controlling how the replacement block is positioned.

Steps

  1. Type ATREPLACE_DEVICES in the AutoCAD command line
  2. Select the block references to replace (or pre-select them)
  3. Optionally adjust replacement settings using keywords:
    • ALIGNMENTCENTER or ORIGIN
    • ROTATIONAUTO or NONE
    • SCALE — Numeric factor (0 = use target block scale)
  4. The selected blocks are replaced with the project device
  5. Block attributes and XData are synced to the new references

Tips

  • This command updates the AutoCAD drawing and syncs database records
  • Device labels update automatically after replacement
