Managing Project Drawings

Command

Command Description
ATEDIT_PROJECT_DRAWINGS Open the Project Drawings editor

Ribbon: FireCAD > Edit > Project Drawings

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open

Overview

The ATEDIT_PROJECT_DRAWINGS command opens the Drawings Editor dialog, where you can add, remove, or edit the drawings registered in your project. Each drawing in the project has a unique identifier in the database and tracks all devices, circuits, and segments placed on it.

Steps

  1. Type ATEDIT_PROJECT_DRAWINGS in the AutoCAD command line
  2. The Project Drawings editor opens
  3. Manage your project drawings:
    • Add new drawings to the project
    • Remove drawings from the project
    • Edit drawing properties (name, description, etc.)
  4. Click OK to apply changes, or Cancel to discard

What Happens After Apply

When you accept changes:

  1. A progress dialog appears with two steps:
    • "Updating Device Labels..." — Regenerates all device labels on the active drawing
    • "Updating Wirepath Labels..." — Regenerates all wirepath labels on the active drawing
  2. The list of active project drawing IDs is reloaded from the database
  3. The Project Tree palette refreshes to show the updated drawing list

Tips

  • Removing a drawing from the project does not delete the .dwg file — it only unregisters it from the project database
  • Adding a drawing registers it in the database so FireCAD can track devices and circuits on that drawing
  • After adding or removing drawings, verify the Project Tree reflects the correct list
