Frequent issues and solutions when installing FireCAD
Issue 1: FireCAD Add-in for AutoCAD 2026 starts with missing components or errors referencing missing dlls
When updating with FireCAD add-in, previous versions of the program may not be effectively removed causing instability and file mismatches in the program. This requires a manual removal and full reinstall of the FireCAD add-in.
Solution: Manually remove previous FireCAD Add-in installers and directories, and reinstall the latest production version
- Open Add / Remove Programs in Windows Settings
- Search for FireCAD and uninstall all entries that show up in the list-
- Delete any FireCAD bundle folders remaining in the default autocad plugin locations-
"C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\Cadgen FireCAD.bundle"
"C:\Program Files\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\FireCAD .NET Add-in.bundle"
"C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\Autodesk\ApplicationPlugins\FireCAD .NET Add-in.bundle"
- Download and install the latest version from this link -

Issue 2: FireCAD 2026 OEM (Standalone) starts with missing components and a similar message box when upgrading older projects-
FireCAD is a 2 part installation. The main installer is a self extracting executable that extracts all setup files and then launches the main installer, setup.exe. The second installer that should run is firecad-2026-en-x64.msi located in the same folder. If the second install fails or is cancelled then these components will be missing.
Solution: Download the FireCAD 2026 component installer directly from here - https://www.cadgen.com/downloads/firecad-2026-en-x64.msi.
Note: This requires that the main FireCAD 2026 application be installed first.
