Project Circuits Editor

Command

Command Description
ATPROJECT_CIRCUITS_EDITOR Open the full Project Circuits Editor window

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open

Overview

The Project Circuits Editor is a comprehensive window for managing all circuit properties in your project. It provides a two-grid layout: the top grid displays circuit settings and the bottom grid shows circuit type limits for the selected circuit. This is the primary tool for configuring circuit electrical parameters, reporting flags, and display options.

Layout

The editor contains two main areas:

  • Top grid — Circuit properties (one row per circuit)
  • Bottom grid — Circuit limits for the selected circuit (one row per limit type)

Circuit Properties Grid (Top)

The circuit grid includes a search panel for finding specific circuits. Each row represents one circuit with the following columns:

Read-Only Columns

Column Description
Panel Panel name (computed from cache)
Card Card/node name (computed from cache)
Origin Part Number Part number of the circuit's origin device
Device Properties Description of entity properties
Circuit Types Associated circuit types

Editable Columns

Column Type Description
Circuit Name Text Circuit identifier
Locked Checkbox Lock circuit to prevent modifications
Hidden Checkbox Hide circuit from normal views
Default Color Color picker Circuit display color in AutoCAD
Wirepath Label Text Custom wirepath label format
Show EOL Checkbox Display end-of-line indicators
EOL Value String Text Custom EOL display value
Voltage Drop Report Checkbox Include in voltage drop (PTP) reports
Address Schedule Checkbox Include in device schedule reports
Speaker Schedule Checkbox Include in speaker/decibel reports
T-Tap Wirefill Checkbox Enable T-tap wirefill calculation
Standby Current Max (A) Decimal Maximum standby current limit
Alarm Current Max (A) Decimal Maximum alarm current limit
Use Current Limits On Battery Calc Checkbox Apply limits to battery calculations
Watt Limit Decimal Maximum circuit wattage
Starting Calculation Voltage Decimal Initial voltage for calculations (default 20.4V)
Min Voltage Decimal Minimum acceptable voltage
Max Circuit Length (ft) Decimal Maximum wire run length
Current Max Threshold % Percentage Warning threshold for current (default 80%)
Watt Max Threshold % Percentage Warning threshold for wattage
Report Order Integer Display order in reports

Circuit Limits Grid (Bottom)

When you select a circuit in the top grid, the bottom grid shows its limit types:

Column Type Description
Circuit Type Dropdown Limit type (SLC, NAC, etc.)
Address Start Override Text Starting address for this type
Quantity Limit Integer Maximum device count for this type
Quantity Threshold % Percentage Warning threshold (default 80%)

Buttons

Button Action
Bulk Edit Selected... Open the Bulk Edit Circuits dialog for selected circuits
Apply Validate and save all changes
Cancel Discard changes and close

Validation

When you click Apply, the editor validates that:

  • All circuits have cables assigned
  • Default voltage values are set (20.4V if missing)

If validation fails, the grid scrolls to the first problematic row.

Tips

  • Use the search panel at the top of the circuit grid to find specific circuits by name, panel, or part number
  • Click the Default Color cell to open the AutoCAD color picker
  • Select multiple circuits (Ctrl+Click or Shift+Click) and use Bulk Edit Selected... to modify common properties across all of them
  • Circuit limits auto-filter to show only the selected circuit's limits
