Command

Command Description
ATOPEN_PROJECT Open an existing FireCAD project

Ribbon: FireCAD > File > Open Project

Prerequisites

  • FireCAD must be loaded and licensed

Overview

The ATOPEN_PROJECT command opens an existing FireCAD project file (.atpx). This loads the project database, populates the Project Tree palette, and makes all FireCAD commands available for the project's drawings.

Steps

  1. Type ATOPEN_PROJECT in the AutoCAD command line
  2. A standard file browser dialog appears
  3. Navigate to your project folder and select the .atpx project file
  4. Click Open
  5. FireCAD loads the project and displays its drawings in the Project Tree palette

What Happens When You Open a Project

  • The project database (.mdf file) is attached and loaded
  • The Project Tree palette populates with all registered drawings
  • The Device Palette loads available device blocks
  • The Circuits palette becomes active
  • The entity cache initializes with project data

Tips

  • If another project is currently open, FireCAD will prompt you to save and close it first
  • The .atpx file must be in the same directory as the project's .mdf database file
  • If the project database is missing or corrupted, you may see an error during open
