Closing a Project

Command

Command Description
ATCLOSE_PROJECT Close the current FireCAD project

Ribbon: FireCAD > File > Close Project

Prerequisites

  • None (the command handles the case where no project is open)

Overview

The ATCLOSE_PROJECT command closes the currently open FireCAD project. You will be prompted to save any unsaved changes before the project is closed.

Steps

  1. Type ATCLOSE_PROJECT in the AutoCAD command line
  2. If there are unsaved changes, a save prompt appears
  3. The project database is detached
  4. The Project Tree, Device Palette, and Circuits palette are cleared

What Happens When You Close

  • Any unsaved changes can be saved or discarded (you'll be prompted)
  • The project database connection is closed
  • The entity cache is cleared
  • The FireCAD palettes reset to their empty state
  • AutoCAD drawings remain open but are no longer linked to the project

Tips

  • Always close your project before opening a different one (or FireCAD will prompt you automatically)
  • If AutoCAD crashes without closing the project, the database file may remain locked. Use SqlLocalDB stop MSSQLLocalDB to release it
