Importing Device Data

Command

Command Description
ATIMPORT_DEVICE_DATA Import device data from an Excel or CSV file

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open

Overview

The ATIMPORT_DEVICE_DATA command imports device data from an Excel (.xlsx) or CSV file into the project database. This is useful for bulk-updating device information from external sources such as equipment schedules or submittals.

Steps

  1. Type ATIMPORT_DEVICE_DATA in the AutoCAD command line
  2. A file browser dialog appears (filtered to Excel and CSV files)
  3. Select the import file and click Open
  4. FireCAD imports the data into the project database
  5. A progress dialog appears:
    • "Updating Device Labels..."
    • "Updating Wirepath Labels..."
  6. Labels on the active drawing update to reflect the imported data

File Format

The import file should follow the FireCAD device data format. You can use the output from ATEXPORT_ALL_DEVICE_DATA as a template.

Tips

  • Always back up your project before bulk importing data
  • Review the imported data by running ATVALIDATE after import
  • The import updates the database — labels and reports regenerate automatically
