Marking Devices as Existing

Commands

Command Description
ATSET_EXISTING Mark selected devices as "existing"
ATCLEAR_EXISTING Clear the "existing" status from selected devices

Prerequisites

  • A FireCAD project must be open

Overview

These commands control the "existing" flag on devices. Existing devices represent equipment that is already installed in the building (as opposed to new devices being added as part of the current project). This distinction affects reports, legends, and bill of materials calculations.

Marking Devices as Existing

  1. Type ATSET_EXISTING in the AutoCAD command line
  2. Select one or more devices in the drawing
  3. Press Enter to confirm
  4. The selected devices are marked as existing
  5. Device labels update to reflect the status

Clearing Existing Status

  1. Type ATCLEAR_EXISTING in the AutoCAD command line
  2. Select one or more devices
  3. Press Enter to confirm
  4. The existing flag is removed
  5. Device labels update

How "Existing" Affects Reports

Report Behavior
Device Legend Existing devices included/excluded based on Options setting: "Include Existing Devices in Legend"
Bill of Materials Existing devices included/excluded based on Options setting: "Include Existing Devices in BOM"
Device Schedule Existing status shown as a column value
Battery Calculations Existing devices still contribute to current calculations

Tips

  • Use existing markers on renovation projects to distinguish new work from existing infrastructure
  • The Options Editor controls whether existing devices appear in legends and BOMs
  • Existing status is stored per-entity, so the same device type can have both existing and new instances
