Command Description
ATSET_ALL_BYBLOCK Set all entity colors and linetypes to ByBlock
ATSET_ALL_BYLAYER Set all entity colors and linetypes to ByLayer
ATSET_ALL_LINEWEIGHTS_BYBLOCK Set all entity lineweights to ByBlock
ATSET_ALL_LINEWEIGHTS_BYLAYER Set all entity lineweights to ByLayer

Prerequisites

  • A drawing must be open

Overview

These commands set the color, linetype, and lineweight properties of drawing entities to either ByBlock or ByLayer mode. This standardizes how entities inherit their visual properties.

  • ByBlock: Entities inherit properties from the block reference they belong to
  • ByLayer: Entities inherit properties from their assigned layer

Steps

  1. Type the desired command in the AutoCAD command line
  2. All entities in the drawing are updated to the specified property mode

When to Use

  • Standardizing a drawing received from an external source
  • Cleaning up inconsistent property assignments
  • Preparing blocks for consistent color-by-layer display
