ATNEWS — Show News Notifications
Command: ATNEWS
Displays any unread FireCAD news notifications. Notifications may include information about new features, important updates, tips, or known issues.
News notifications appear in popup windows and are automatically shown when FireCAD loads. Once a notification has been displayed, it is marked as read and won't appear again on subsequent launches.
When to Use
- You dismissed a notification too quickly and want to read it again
- You want to check if there are any new announcements
- After returning from an extended absence to catch up on updates
ATNEWS_RESET — Reset News Tracking
Command: ATNEWS_RESET
Resets the news tracking file, causing all previously read notifications to appear as unread. The next time ATNEWS runs (or on the next AutoCAD startup), all available notifications will be displayed again.
This command deletes the local tracking file at:
%LOCALAPPDATA%\FireCAD\shown-news.json
When to Use
- You want to review all past notifications
- The news tracking file has become corrupted
- You want to share or re-read a specific announcement
ATCHECK_FOR_UPDATES — Check for Software Updates
Command: ATCHECK_FOR_UPDATES
Checks whether a newer version of FireCAD is available. If an update is found, you'll be prompted with update details and download options.
FireCAD also checks for updates automatically when the plugin loads, but this command lets you manually check at any time.
When to Use
- You want to verify you're running the latest version
- You heard about a new release and want to update
- Troubleshooting an issue that may be fixed in a newer version
